This is the capital city of Kerala. The district has an area of 2192 km and a population of 7.5 Lakhs (as per the 2001 census) Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala is a beautiful seaside city built on seven hills. The city gets its name from the word Thiruvananthapuram, meaning the city of Anantha or the abode of the sacred serpent Anantha on which Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu Trinity.

Thiruvallam: this serene backwater stretch, enroute to Kovalam, is famous for its canoe rides.

Kovalam Beach : (14 Km from Trivandrum city and Airport) this internationally renowned beach resort has been a favorite haunt of tourists since the 1930' s. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches.  The southernmost beach known as the Lighthouse beach, which is the most popular Kovalam is today one of Kerala's  major tourist destinations. The best time to visit is between December and March.

Varkala : (40 Km from Trivandrum). This place came to be known as the Papanasham Beach (Papanasham, means recovery from sins.) the 2000 year old Sree Janardhana Swamy temple and the Nature care centre are the two main attractions here.

Kollam - Located 71km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram, We can make eight-hour boat trip between Kollam and Allapuzha which offers a variety of scenic beauty as the journey passes through lakes, canals, and backwatered villages. This is a port town used by Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and the Chinese. This port town was found in the 9th century.  The town is also associated with the early history of Christianity. Its traditional industries have been cashew nut processing and fisheries but modern industries including coir, ceramics and aluminium are booming.
